UPDATE: Early in the morning on Feb. 1, 2023, snow began falling in the Baltimore/DC. area, providing the first measurable snowfall for many. As of 7:00 AM, Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) had reported 0.2” while DC’s Reagan National Airport (DCA) and Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD) both reported 0.4”. Baltimore’s Daily Precipitation record was broken on July 9, 2022 when 1.36” was recorded, superseding the previous record of 0.99” in 1970. Though these amounts are not unusual for July, what is unusual is that this was the last of the meteorological summer months of June, July, and August to not have a calendar day exceeding 1.00” of rain. On April 29, 2022, the temperature dropped to 32°F. at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), breaking the daily record of 33° from way back in 1874. This also established the 3rd latest freezing temperature ever recorded for Baltimore. As Tropical Storm Eta moves northward along the west coast of Florida, a ton of partially associated moisture has been streaming all the way up through the Mid-Atlantic States.
