Baltimore’s Calendar-Day Precipitation Record – July 9th

Baltimore’s Daily Precipitation record was broken on July 9, 2022 when 1.36” was recorded, superseding the previous record of 0.99” in 1970. Though these amounts are not unusual for July, what is unusual is that this was the last of the meteorological summer months of June, July, and August to not have a calendar day exceeding 1.00” of rain. Other months having each day with extremes of >1.00”: January,  March, September, and December).

Baltimore’s official precipitation archive goes back to January 1, 1871.
