RESEARCHER/WEBSITE MANAGER – JEFF TAYLOR
Jeff developed an early passion for weather and began observing and recording personal weather data when about 10 years old. Snowstorms were a favorite weather event while growing up in Maryland. He took meteorology and climatology courses at Frostburg State University but majored in Geography, emphasizing Cartography as a career. Jeff is also a former National Weather Service COOP observer but had to give it up upon moving west. He greatly missed snow when living in San Francisco and the Bay Area for 16 years. A move to the Portland area the occurred, and he was happy to be able to measure snow again. Jeff enjoyed learning about and observing the weather patterns in the Pacific Northwest but, after 10 years, retirement, sunshine, and drier weather was calling so a move to the desert in the Coachella Valley happened and is where he resides now.
Even with having moved from Maryland in the late 1990s, the state will always be home and its weather will remain a passion for him, including keeping this website’s extensive weather data as up-to-date as possible.
