Baltimore Sets New Record for Non-Measurable Precipitation
At the end of the day on November 4, 2024, the official Baltimore weather station at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) set the all-time record for days with no measurable precipitation. The period October 3rd-November 4th marks 33-consecutive days reporting <0.01”, superseding the previous record of 32 days covering the period September 30th-Oct 31st back in 1963.
The month of October, 2024 reported a total of 0.36”, with 0.35” on the 1st and 0.01” on the 2nd but nothing measurable thereafter (with just a Trace on the 4th). The 0.36” is the 8th driest October in the long-term Baltimore precipitation archive (dating back to 1871 when including the official downtown locations prior to official records moving to BWI on July 23, 1950). The #1 driest month is still October 1963 when a total of a Trace was reported, the only calendar month to not have measurable precipitation.
